Rekindling Homefires

When Richard and Teresa D-Litzenberger, founders of Homefires Bakery, retired after 22 years, and Linda Flick became the new owner, fans of the delicious breads and pastries were delighted to know that they could continue to enjoy the bakery treats they loved.

Recently, Eric Worthen, new owner of Dan's Market in Leavenworth, decided to team up with Linda Flick to rekindle Homefires Bakery and make its products easily available to locals and visitors alike by producing and marketing the popular baked goods from Dan's Market here in town on Hwy 2.

If you have visited Dan's lately, you might have noticed activity at the rear of the store as changes have been occurring to accommodate the new bakery department. No opening date is set as yet, but it won't be long now, as bags of flours and grains and other supplies are already in evidence. A rear corner, now blocked off with plastic, will hold all the delicious breads, cookies, pies and other pastries associated with Homefires. Linda has always prided herself on using only top quality products in her baked goods, and the results are evident.

Eric is slowly making other additions and improvements to the popular local small-town market. Large chains have their place, but there is nothing quite like the friendliness and service from our own long-established local grocery store: Dan's Market.

Watch for the announcement of Homefires Grand Opening. It won't be long now

YES! Way to go Eric and Linda! In addition to your wonderful breads and assorted yummies, my fave is your coconut cream pie - mmmmm!
